Meditating with Mandala

In many spiritual traditions, Mandala has been used as a tool to facilitate meditation. It helps us to quiet our minds and connect with our inner experience. Meditating with a mandala assists us in expanding our awareness of who we really are, empowers us to awaken our highest potentials, and encourages our spiritual growth. It assists us to experience being in the present moment, and presents us with an opportunity for unlimited potentials and possibilities.
Here is a brief introduction to Mandala Awareness Meditation.
<Mandala Awareness Meditation>
1. Choose a mandala
Spread your mandala cards on a table or a floor with mandala images showing. (or click the link for Mandala Gallery at the bottom of this page). Take a few deep breaths to relax your body and bring your awareness to your heart. With a soft, gentle gaze, look through the mandalas and notice one that pops out and calling your attention or one that resonate with you the most at this time. Place the mandala that you have chosen in front of you (or click the mandala to expand the image), and get ready to connect with the mandala.
2. Connect with the Mandala
Sit comfortably and gaze softly into the mandala you have chosen. Open your heart and hold your intention to connect with the essence of the mandala, and send your gratitude to the mandala and yourself for holding the space and creating this opportunity for connection and deeper awareness.
3. Being with the Experience
Continue to relax and allow yourself to fully experience being in the moment. You may notice any sensations, emotions, or insights that may arise while gazing into the mandala. Relax, Be open and simply enjoy the experience and the loving presence of the mandala. If you are comfortable, you may choose to close your eyes to go deeper into your experience. Continue to stay with the experience for as long as you are comfortable. When you feel done, slowly open your eyes and send your gratitude to the mandala and yourself for the experience.
4. Reflect on your experience
After the meditation, when you are ready, you may reflect on your experience by writing in a journal. Write whatever comes to you without any judgment. You may choose to draw pictures or symbols to represent your experience.
